A short call to work out whether I am the right fit. No cost, no obligation, and no pressure to book at the end of it.
One to one work for adults and teenagers. Weekly at the start for most people, then spaced out as things become steadier.
Twenty minutes longer than an individual session, because two people need the room and ending a couples session mid sentence helps nobody.
A thorough mapping of history, patterns, risk and what would actually help, with a written summary you keep. Optional, and not required before starting counselling.
Payment is by internet banking, due on the day of the session. Account details are on your invoice. There is no card machine and no surcharge.
Counselling with a counsellor is not covered by a standard GP subsidy. Some workplaces have an Employee Assistance Programme that pays for a set number of sessions, and some health insurance policies cover counselling, so it is worth asking your employer or insurer directly. If you have had a sexual assault or a covered injury, ACC funds counselling through registered providers, and I can point you toward that pathway.
Honestly, it depends, and anyone who gives you a confident number in the first week is guessing. Some things resolve in six to eight sessions. Addiction and trauma work usually takes longer, because the pattern took years to build. What I can promise is that we will review it openly rather than letting it drift on indefinitely.
No. There is no contract, no minimum, and no package to buy. You book one session at a time and you can stop whenever you want. If you decide to stop, I would rather you tell me so we can finish properly, but you are not obliged to.
Say so on the first call. I keep a small number of reduced fee spaces and I will tell you plainly whether one is available. If it is not, I will point you toward lower cost and free services rather than leaving you with nothing.
That is exactly what the free 10 minute call is for. You do not have to explain everything, and there is no pressure to book anything afterwards.
